DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY SCHOOL SCIENCE INCURSIONS

Tech Time

  • Design & technology incursions aligned to the Victorian curriculum 2.0

  • Delivered by science teaching specialists with qualifications in STEM and/or education

  • Workshops available in a 60 or 90 minute format

  • FUN and interactive to engage and excite

  • Small group sizes of up to 30 students per workshop to maximise hands-on learning

In an increasingly technological and complex world, it is important students develop knowledge and confidence to critically analyse and respond creatively to design challenges. Technologies can play a crucial role in both enriching and transforming societies, and in the management of natural and constructed environments.

Through STEM, students develop key skills including:

  • problem solving
  • creativity
  • critical analysis
  • teamwork
  • independent thinking
  • initiative
  • communication
  • digital literacy
Beebots
Foundation – Level 2

Learn sequential thinking skills while programming cute little Beebots. Understand what a robot is, how difficult they are to program and their ability to make life easier. Perform basic programming tasks to direct Beebot around maps and to specific objects. Create a maze for Beebot to navigate with your help. The encore is the best, with a whole grade Beebot dance!

STEM Design Challenges
Foundation – Level 6

What happens when science meets competition? A fun and engaging STEM challenge! Work in collaborative groups and participate in three different STEM challenges that will push and test your creative, critical and engineering thinking skills. There will be real world constraints: limited time, materials and boundaries.

Marble Maze Mayhem
Foundation – Level 6

What's better than a marble run? Designing and building one yourself. In small groups using unusual but everyday materials such as pool noodles, spend this session creating the longest, most elaborate marble run possible. Reminiscent of fun and quirky Rube Goldberg contraptions. Who will be crowned the ultimate marble run master?
